WordPress plugins can provide extensions to existing function or create new ones. There is almost a plugin for anything you can imagine. They can help with your SEO strategy or change your blog into a web gallery.
WordPress as A Web Gallery
Traditionally, WordPress is used as a Blog, a simple Content Management System, but the platform can also be used to create much more in-depth and unique sites such as resume portfolios, Photo Galleries, and CSS Galleries. Here are a couple of good examples of Web Galleries that can be built using the Wordpress platform:
CSS Ice
This site was modified from the original WordPress to give a custom CSS gallery and extended site view. CSS Ice also provides a place for CSS designers to post their creations to get added exposure and land new freelance work

Using custom display and transitional plugins, this site has moved far beyond the traditional use of wordpress.
